NOPARKING.png

If you park behind T-Mobile you will get towed. 24hrs a day! 7 days a week! Seriously! It will cost you a ton and ruin your night. We wish we could do something about it, but the landlord next door doesn't care. Sorry.

TIGER!TIGER!TAVERN

Tiger!Tiger! was opened in 2011 by the owners of Blind Lady Ale House. We have been long time fans of Live Wire (San Diego’s original craft beer and indie rock bar) and were excited to find a space on El Cajon Boulevard to call our second home. Our space has had many many different owners over the years. In the 40s it was a saddle shop and later served dual purpose as a fashion store and salon. Since taking over our goal has been to create a warm and inviting space to hang out in while enjoying great indie beer and delicious food. We don’t use SYSCO or USFoods and we don’t have an ABIn-Bev account. Never have, never will. We make our own sausages and charcuterie, smoke meat, cook wood-fired sandwiches and only serve the best indie beers we can find. We source locally and seasonally allowing us have a solid selection of vegetarian and vegan options - which makes sense beings 2 of our owners have been vegan for well over 20 years.

DRAFT MAGAZINE
100 BEST BEER BARS IN AMERICA

We've been on the 100 Best Beer Bars in America list every year we've been open. We'd like to think it's because we give a shit. Seriously, between our direct draw, stainless steel draught system, to our crazy draft tech program, to our line cleaning between every keg change, we are serious about beer.

BEST SAUSAGE

We make all of our own charcuterie in house, and it was nice to see people care and voted us Best Sausage in the SD City Beat "Best of" issue.

EATER SD ESSENTIAL 38

"This might be San Diego's best example of a craft beer eatery, done without pretense. The food here more than measures up to the beer."

GIVING

When we started BLAH back in 2009 we knew we wanted to figure out how we could be a true positive on our community. So, we reached out to friends and asked how we could help. Ever since then we've had a blast helping people help people by raising funds and awareness for the true Agents of Change.

SDAgentsOfChange2019_FIX.jpg

SD AGENTS OF CHANGE

“Giving is about more than donating money. It’s about sharing your capabilities, content, and connections—and above all, giving others the chance to be heard, respected, and valued.”

Adam Grant

And honestly that’s what this is about. Sure, we can and will donate some much needed money. But  it’s also about connecting some of our guests to local community organizations they may know little or nothing about.

AGENTS OF CHANGE

Agents of Change 2019 is a little different.

Our idea is still to HIGHLIGHT a number of LOCAL organizations that are making change, doing good and getting it done in our own backyard. And we still hope that you, our people, might feel kinship with one (or more) of these groups.

But there were so MANY local groups we loved that we decided to feature one, once a month at Blind Lady and one, once a month at Tiger.

That's over 20 non-profit, awesome makin'-change organizations when the year is all over.

Border Angels is an all volunteer, non-profit organisation that advocates for human rights, humane immigration reform, and social justice with a special focus on issues related to issues related to the US-Mexican border. Border Angels engages in community education and awareness programs that include guided trips to the desert to place water along migrant crossing routes as well as to the border to learn about the history of US-Mexico border policy and experience the border fence firsthand.

Border Angels also works to serve San Diego County’s immigrant population through various migrant outreach programs such as Day Laborer outreach and our free legal assistance program held in our office every Tuesday. Border Angels works to dispel the various myths surrounding immigration in the United States and to bring back truth and justice.

Border Angels’ mission is to reduce the number of fatalities occurring along the Californian border through the placement of life saving water stations in the desert. Since the start of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in 1994, there has been a steady increase in the militarisation of the United States/Mexico border, primarily due to the implementation of Operation Gatekeeper. Many years of devastating economic and immigration policies have created a situation where thousands of people from Mexico and Latin America risk their lives each year crossing into the United States in the hope of finding a better life. In the years since the inception of Operation Gatekeeper, an estimated 10,000 people have lost their lives during the journey due to extreme weather, lack of food and water, and the overall perilous nature of the trip.

What they do in the Spring and Summer Months: With horrifically hot temperature conditions, hundreds of rescue stations are located along the ten state US Mexico border region. Temperatures reaching as high as 127 degrees, water is critical for survival. Volunteers maintain stations throughout the spring and summer months.

What they do in the Fall and Winter Months: Critical life-saving stations are established throughout the San Diego Mountain areas. Winter clothing, food and water are placed in winter storage bins to help decrease negative health results from being exposed to the incredibly freezing temperature changes that exists in the San Diego County mountain areas during the Fall and Winter.

BREWBIES

Every year we look forward to supporting our friends at Brewbies Fest.

Leveraging her long-standing, sincere relationships with dozens of breweries and their brewers, Melanie was able to create one of the first beer festivals to benefit a nonprofit organization.  She called it Brewbies® - never knowing if the first one would also be the last – and decided on the beneficiary. It was here the two worlds combined: craft beer and Keep A Breast.

To date, Brewbies® is looking forward to its 9th year, is now held in two cities, and has raised over $350,000.

WHO WE ARE

Lee and Jenniffer Chase
Jeff Motch and Clea Hantman

Lee Chase graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Malting and Brewing Science and soon after passed the prestigious Institute of Brewing Associate Membership Exam to become a Master Brewer. Lee went on to work with three breweries and a yeast lab before committing to what was then a start-up operation called Stone Brewing Company. Over the nine+ years that Lee was with Stone, they grew from a small time brewery to an internationally-recognized icon of craft brewing. He currently works with numerous Breweries in the USA, as well as Canada, Costa Rica, India, Australia, Africa, and Norway.

Jeff Motch has a degree in Art from SDSU and his work has graced the covers of bands such as Jack Johnson, blink-182, G. Love and many local bands, he has designed for the San Diego Padres, Patagonia, several local restaurants as well as created fine art posters. He ran the local music zine 360, was art director for Cargo Music/Headhunter Records, spent time in Italy working for Acerbis Italia, studied beer for over 20 years at Live Wire and co-owned his design firm, Lively and Motch, for five years.

Clea Hantman has written eleven books for major publishers. Before that she owned her own successful retail business in downtown San Diego for five years. She’s written for every major publication in San Diego and her work has appeared in dozens of national magazines.
Clea has also been certified by the VPN America, the local branch of the Associazione Vera Pizza Napoletana, an international non-profit organization founded in the mid 1990’s by a group of Neapolitan pizzaiolis (pizza makers). At Blind Lady Ale House we don't follow all the rules laid out by the VPN, but instead use them as a guideline to base our own pizza philosophy on—we specialize in a combination of old world techniques and local sourcing to create a tasty and thoughtful product.

Jenniffer Chase has a Master’s Degree, in Communication. While putting herself through school, she managed several restaurants, bars and cafes. Jenniffer, along with husband Lee own and manage three rental properties in the area.
